About Arvin

Arvin Shaun Singh Chahal (born 15 December 2000) is a swimmer who competes Internationally for Malaysia. He specializes in freestyle and individual medley events. He learned swimming at age 7 and progressed into competitive swimming by the age of 9. He graduated in Business Degree majoring in Event Management from Griffith University, Queensland, Australia. Currently, he is competing in the men’s 200 meters individual medley (IM), 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relay.

He is the only Asian trained under Swimming World’s International Coach of the Year, Dean Boxall since he was 13 years old.

Arvin Shaun has won a Silver in the 50m backstroke category, and Bronze in 200m freestyle in the Malaysian Open 2022. He has been in the 4th ranked in the 200 IM Open Group at New South Wales Open. In FINA Swimming World Cup, 25m in Singapore 2019; he was ranked up at the 6th place for the men’s 200m freestyle. He competes in 200m freestyle and has grabbed his first bronze medal at the SEA Games in the 4x200m freestyle relay swimming on 5th December 2019.

He exhibit his potentials at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2018 in Perak where he won 5 medals; 2 golds in 400 freestyle and 1500m freestyle, 2 silvers in 200 IM and 200 freestyle and a bronze in 400 IM categories. He was also selected under A-cut for Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires in 2018 and also represent Malaysia in Commonwealth Youth Games in Bahamas in 2017.

In the 2012 MSSS (Selangor School Sports Meet), he won the total of 12 medals – of which 8 were gold; and went on to win another 2 golds and a silver at the 2012 MSSM (Malaysian School Sports Meet). Through his school Cempaka, Arvin has also competed Internationally and won numerous medals and  set records as well.
